Kitchen Cabinetmaking 201: Linen Cabinet with Beaded Face Frame

with Jon Boley

Part 1: Friday, March 27, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

Part 2: Saturday, March 28, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

Part 3: Sunday, March 29, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

Part 4: Friday, April 17, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

Part 5: Saturday, April 18, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

Part 6: Sunday, April 19, 2026, 9 AM - 5 PM

Students will build on the skills learned in our Kitchen Cabinetmaking 100 series by constructing a linen cabinet that measures 24"W x 72"H x 17"D and incorporates features typically found in high end custom cabinets like beaded face frames and inset doors. One of the main goals of this class is to reinforce the skills and processes covered in the 100 series, but we'll also introduce new challenges like: processing large panels; creating joinery for large panels; making beaded face frames; making a curved bottom rail (optional); fitting and installing inset (aka flush mounted) doors; installing and adjusting undermount slides; using the LR32 system to drill shelf pin holes; and making cove crown molding with the table saw. Due to the size and scope of this project, we will not have time to apply finishes, but students will have the option to schedule a follow-up session to apply the finish of their choice (for an additional fee). Students who register early will have the opportunity to select their lumber ahead of time and layout the specific components (if desired); email the instructor at jboley552@gmail.com for more info. OPTIONAL UPGRADE: The standard tuition covers a maple interior and exterior, but students can choose to upgrade their cabinet exterior to Cherry for an additional $150 or Walnut for an extra $300; this fee covers the additional material charge and an extra half day in the classroom and must be paid for at the time of registration.

The Basics: Joinery

with Keith Guillot

Tuesday, March 31, 2026, 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Check out this new series of classes to focus on learning the basics! If you're a beginner and not sure where to start, this is a great option, but keep in mind that students will not leave with a finished project; if you'd like to have something to take home, consider our Woodworking Fundamentals II and III classes which cover much of the same material. In this particular session, students will learn how to create a wide variety of woodworking joints, including: rabbets, dados, tongue-and-groove, dovetails, cope-and-stick, mortise-and-tenon, pocket screws, dominos, dowels, biscuits, lap-and-bridle, and more! The focus will be on introducing students to each of these types of joints and discussing pros-and-cons and practical applications of each. As time allows, students will get limited hands-on creating some of these types of joints.
